Over the years, many property owners have asked me to help them fix a roofing problem caused by unqualified and sometimes unethical roofing contractors. These unfortunate people were ripping their hair out when they realized their new roof needed to be repaired. To make matters worse, the contractor that did the job was nowhere to be found. Many of these property owners chose a contractor because he quoted a low price. Imagine how these people felt after paying me thousands of dollars to fix what the previous roofing company failed to do correctly.
Home improvement companies generate more complaints than any other industry, with roofing companies leading the industry in total complaints received. It’s rare that a low-priced contractor will meet your service expectations. The Associated Press published the results of a survey about consumer complaints, which stated, “Home improvement services and auto sales sparked the most complaints from consumers.” The survey, done by the National Association of Consumer Agency Administrators and the Consumer Federation of America, found that “home improvement services for the first time overtook auto sales as the No.1 complaint.”

We take pride in our record of no complaints with the Better Business Bureau in our more than 25 years of doing business. In fact, we have never had a complaint filed with any consumer group or with the Department of Licensing. |

“Over the past 7 years I have used David Ness Jr. for three home remodeling projects. To use them three times should speak for itself. The jobs included: replacement of the windows in my home, installation of a deck on the rear of my house, and the complete replacement of all siding and guttering on my house. Simply put, David Ness Jr. Construction is reliable, uses quality materials, has quality workmen, gets the job done (they don’t disappear and then show up when they feel like it), they clean up and they are gone. You can’t ask for more than that. If you’re looking for quality products, quality installation and a fair price, I highly recommend them!”

After evaluating your project I’ll explain my recommendations to you. Feel free to ask me questions about materials, installation requirements or my company. I’ll help you understand your options so that you get a customized solution that meets your wants and needs. At David Ness Jr. Construction Co. we do more than just drop off estimates. Compare David Ness Jr. Construction Co. to the other companies that send out unlicensed salesperson's to drop off a quote like it is no more important than dropping off the morning newspaper. They'll even do it while you're not home. Some companies do that because they don't want you to know they’re violating state law, which requires the proposal to be made only by licensed contractors.
Our quality control system ensures your new roof will last longer and perform properly for many years. As the owner of David Ness Jr. Construction Co., I’ll inspect the work in progress to make sure it meets our quality standards. We hire the right installers, supervise their work and verify that it meets our standards for excellence. Because our workmanship is better, your new roof will last longer.
David Ness Jr. Construction Co. always removes the old roof before installing the new roof. A tear-off ensures a longer-lasting, more dependable roof. That way we can check for deteriorated wood and install waterproofing underlayment.
A tear-off is better that putting on a second layer. It will resist the wind better and will protect against leaks in the winter. You’ll save money in the long run by tearing off the old roof.
I’ll come back when your new roof is completed for a final inspection and to meet with you to answer any questions you may have. All of my customers get my personal cell phone number.
The way we conduct business guarantees a higher level of customer satisfaction. We’ll help you avoid the frustration and disappointments caused by unreliable contractor.
Because we are confident that our quality control system will provide a more reliable roof, we offer a 15-year warranty on workmanship. Nobody's perfect; we've been called back a few times to fix minor problems. Typically, those repairs were made within one business day after they were reported.

Does the owner evaluate your home prior to making recommendations?
Does the owner know what your project needs to qualify for a manufacturer’s warranty?
Does the owner inspect the work to make sure the installers are not cutting corners?
Does the owner come back to meet with you after the job is done?

Are you working with an expert with hands-on experience or with a company that only has a sales and marketing orientation?
Is the company coming in with a low price because it’s compromising quality?
Is the company compromising on materials, workmanship or by failing to provide expert recommendations and supervision?
Does the contractor recommend tearing off the old roof, or does he want to make a quick buck by putting on a second layer – a second layer that provides less wind resistance, less waterproofing and won’t last as long?

Is the company stable? How long has it been in business? Will the contractor be available if you ever need him to come back?
Ask the contractor when the company was founded. Many contractors misrepresent their history. They tell you how many years of experience they have, not how long their company has been operating.
The roofing business is easy to get into but difficult to stay in for the long run. Most go out of business because their operating philosophy is based on maximizing volume while letting customer satisfaction fall by the wayside.
Many roofing company operators go from one company to another. They leave behind a lot of dissatisfied customers then start up under another name. They’ll tell you they’ve been in business for 20-30 years when in reality, their company started just a few years ago.
Fly-by-night contractors permeate the roofing industry. Roofing companies fail at a rate of 35% every three years, which means 35% of the roofing companies don’t stay in business long enough to honor a three-year warranty.

How do they control the quality of service and workmanship?
What looks like a good deal up front may actually cost 2-3 times more over the long run.

Is the company run in an ethical and legal way? If they’re not afraid to break the rules, do you think they’re afraid to take advantage of you?
Is the company licensed? It must be, and any salesperson representing the company must be licensed. The salesperson should be able to show you a license with his/her name on it.
Everything that’s included in the proposal should be in writing. (This is where companies fool people – by being vague about what’s included.)
Contractors are required by law to notify you in writing that you have three days to cancel the agreement.
If a contractor fails to pay for materials used on your project, the supplier of the materials can place a lien on your property. What does that mean to you? The materials supplier may ask you to pay for the materials again. The supplier may place a lien on your home and you won’t be able to sell it until the lien is paid off. You may incur legal expenses because you’ll need an attorney to help solve the problem.

Many companies that do roofing do not have insurance that covers roofing work. What if they damage your property, or what if one of their workers gets hurt on your property?
To verify they have proper insurance, get proof directly from their insurance company. Ask if the contractor has General Liability Insurance and Workers Compensation Insurance that covers roofing.

Is it in writing?
Does it specifically state what’s covered?
How long is the warranty in effect?
Let me ask you this. Do you want a more thorough evaluation of what you need? Do you want to know all the options available to you? Do you want David Ness Jr. to help you get better results? I thought so! Call us today - 888-637-7571 |
